Ekadasi Calender 2014

Want to practice fasting on Ekadasi days?  Have you missed it because you forgot it was Ekadasi today?  Get Ekadashi calender for the year 2014 based on Vaishnava Calender from here.

Ekadasi falls on the eleventh day after every full moon or new moon day in Hindu Calender.  So every month there are two Ekadasi or Ekadashi days.  It is an auspicious day meant for the worship of Lord Vishnu. Fasting is taken from grains and more time is dedicated to prayers and meditation on Lord Vishnu.

I have given here the calender for Ekadasi for the year 2014 based on Indian Standard Time.  Every time you practice it, make note of the next fasting day so that you don't forget.

    1. You have to fast for the whole day. The fasting is done in different ways. Mostly grains are not taken. Some take Ekadasi by eating fruits and milk. In the beginning, you can start by eating fruits, or can make different items using tapioca or rajgira flour. Later, when you are capable you can move to fruits and milk alone. When you advance more, you can reduce that also. Depends on your convenience.

There is no compulsion. The purpose is to keep aside a day for the Lord. Eating lot of food will consume time in the form of cooking, for eating and when the process of digestion takes place, then also we will not be able to concentrate on the Lord. So the aim is to involve ourselves in the service of the Lord on Ekadasi day.

The fasting is broken on the next day morning. The timing will differ for different areas. So if you can tell me which part of the world you are from, then I will let you know the breaking time for each Ekadasi.

    3. We know there are two Ekadasi's in every month. When we take fasting for Ekadasi, take a note of the next Ekadasi, then you will not forget it.
